Hi Naomi Sorry that it's taken me some time to have a look at your blog. You've worked hard to make it look good and you've found some interesting style models. I was interested by the online "Student" magazine at first because it seemed like the sort of website that would suit some of the pieces being written by our AS students (including yourself). In the end, though, even though the website looks professional, the standard of journalism isn't particularly high. An example would be the way that in the editorial, the author refers to him/herself in the first person in rather unsubtle and obvious ways - "In my opinion" .... "which leads me nicely to....". An AS student would lose some marks for using these methods so it's important for you not to copy them. The same rule always applies that the best writing will usually be found in publications that people are prepared to PAY for (i.e. PRINT magazines / newspapers / books etc). This is important when you are looking for style models because if you try to copy second-rate writing, the BEST that you can achieve is second-rate writing yourself, but if you are inspired by EXCELLENT writing, there is at least a chance that your own writing will be excellent.
